Immersive rooms by The Lab in the Bag® for multisensory creativity research

“Multisensoriality and Creativity: Exploring Multisensorial Approaches to Improve Creativity”” – Thesis conducted in an immersive multisensory room designed by The Lab in The Bag®!

This innovative research project conducted by Repères Insights, Institut Lyfe and the CERAG laboratory at Grenoble-Alpes University aims to understand how multi-sensory immersive environments can stimulate individual creativity, which is a key factor in business development and innovation.

The structure of this project is based on a CIFRE* thesis led by Lou-Anne Delaroque. The project itself is co-financed by Repères Insights – a leader in consumer experience evaluation – and supervised by:

Institut Lyfe is host to this field research and benefits from a multisensory immersive room by The Lab in the Bag® since 2021.

A unique immersive room to explore creativity

This 80m² immersive room is designed to show 360° images with sensory interaction, broadcast sounds and smells, and even simulate temperature as well as humidity conditions.

This environment places participants in fully immersive situations. These are ideal to perform a controlled identification of the best combinations of sensory stimuli in order to promote creativity in a variety of professional contexts.

Why use multisensory immersive environments?

Scientific studies show that sensory stimuli (visual, olfactory, auditory or gustatory) significantly influence consumer emotions and behavior. Our conclusion is that environmental stimulation has a cognitive, emotional and behavioral impact, and thus influences the psychological processes involved in creativity performance.

In this context, immersive technologies enable us to reproduce very precise sensory environments to explore this relationship.

Thanks to immersive rooms by The Lab in the Bag®, it is possible to control and adjust these stimuli to understand their effects on individual and collective creativity, whether through sounds, images, smells, or even tactile and thermal sensations.

A research project for companies

The results of this CIFRE thesis will provide concrete insights for companies wishing to integrate immersive environments into their creative processes. Indeed, creativity is a strategic lever for innovation, enabling companies to differentiate themselves in a constantly evolving market.

Thanks to this research, Repères Insights and its partners will help develop practical recommendations on the use of immersive environments to stimulate creativity in a variety of professional contexts, making this technology accessible to all companies, whatever their sector of activity.

Scientific collaboration and future prospects

This research project benefits from the combined expertise of Repères Insights, Institut Lyfe and CERAG. By exploring new territories in innovation through creativity, this collaboration paves the way for concrete applications in the professional world.

For companies interested in these innovative approaches, The Lab in the Bag® offers immersive solutions ready to be integrated into innovation, training or experimentation processes, to improve their creative practices.
